DCC opens tender for 13 cattle markets

Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) yesterday opened the tender box for 13 makeshift cattle markets in the city ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha next month.
Chief estate officer of DCC opened the tender box at Nagar Bhaban in the presence of bidders.
The highest bid of Tk 3.27 crore has been proposed for Armanitola playground at Nayabazar.
The top bids for other markets are Tk 1.35 crore for the open space near Taltala bus stand, Tk 1.05 crore for the open space at Agargaon slum, Tk 34.20 lakh for Meradia Bazar playground, Tk 33.50 lakh for the open space near Banani-Kakoli level crossing, Tk 25.15 lakh for the school ground of Azampur Sharkari Prathamik Biddalaya in Uttara, Tk 20 lakh for Balurmath near Brothers Union club in Kamalapur, Tk 15 lakh for the playground of Dhaka Polytechnic Institute, Tk 11.50 lakh for Jigatola-Hajaribagh playground, Tk 7.70 lakh for the open space of DCC beside the Golapbagh playground, Tk 6.61 lakh for Dhupkhola East End Club ground, Tk 5.62 for Rahmatganj playground and Tk 5.20 lakh for the playground near Khilgaon level crossing in Uttar Shajahanpur.
Fifty bidders have submitted their proposals to secure leases of the 13 markets.
The proposals will go to the tender evaluation committee, before getting final approval of the DCC mayor.
The chief estate officer said none would be allowed to set up cattle markets on roads and the DCC will take action if any such market is found.
The markets will open three days before the Eid-ul-Azha and will continue till the Eid day.
The Hasil (tax) of the cattle markets has been fixed at five percent for this year.
