Ramendu Majumdar re-elected ITI worldwide president
Honorary President of Bangladesh Centre of International Theatre Institute (ITI) Ramendu Majumdar, has been unanimously re-elected the worldwide President of ITI for the next two years. On the concluding day of the 33rd World Congress of ITI held from September19-24 at the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition centre, Xiamen, China, Ali Mahdi of Sudan and Ann Mari Engel of Sweden were elected Vice Presidents, says a press release.
Earlier in the election for the members of the executive council held on Thursday, Bangladeshi candidate Ramendu got the highest number of votes. As per the charter of ITI, the newly elected members of the executive council, in their first meeting held on Saturday elected the President, Vice Presidents and members of the executive board.
The other members of the newly elected 19-member executive council are from US, Germany, Jamaica, China, UAE Fujairah, Sweden, Philippines, Korea, Slovenia, Burkina Faso, Netherlands, Belgium, Mexico, Japan and Switzerland.
Over 300 delegates from 65 countries attended the congress. A 22 -member delegation from Bangladesh ITI led by its president, Ataur Rahman joined the congress. This included three young actors participating in two workshops and a three- member team who brought out daily news bulletins during the congress.
