Three killed in road accidents
At least three people were killed and five others injured in separate road accidents in Comilla, Bagerhat and Dinajpur yesterday.
UNB from Comilla reports: A medical officer was killed and two others were injured as a private car plunged into a roadside ditch at Koyrapur in Daudkandi upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Dr Mohammad Fahmidul Sharif Tushar, 33, medical officer of Matlab Uttar Upazila Health Complex in Chandpur and son of Dr Abul Kashem of Paharer Char village in Matlab Uttar Upazila in Chandpur.
Locals said a Matlab Uttar upazila-bound private car from Dhaka plunged into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving Fahmidul dead on the spot.
His wife Dr Afrin Chowdhury Situ and his mother were injured in the accident on Daudkandi-Chandpur Matlab Uttar road at noon.
Dr Fahmidul along with his family used to reside at Mirpur in Dhaka.
Our correspondent from Bagerhat says: A trader was killed and another injured when a passenger bus hit them in the Badhal Bazar area under Kachua upazila here yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Moni Hawladar, 35, son of Mansur Hawladar and also a betel-nut trader, hailed from Charkathi village of the upazila.
Injured Bimol Das, son of Judhisthor Das of Bolbhodrapur village of the same upazila was given first aid at a local hospital.
ANM Khairul Anam, officer-in-charge of Kachua police station, said the accident occurred when a Pirojpur-bound passenger bus from Bagerhat hit them while they were buying betel-nut standing beside the road in the bazar area, leaving Moni dead on the spot and Bimol injured.
Our correspondent from Dinajpur adds: Villagers of Nawabganj upazila blocked a road following an accident that killed a housewife and injured two others yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Altafunnessa 20, wife of Md Mostafa of Jibanpur village of Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur.
The injured were taken to Nawabganj upazila Health complex identified as Md Mostafa 26, son of Mozahar Ali of Krishna-Jibanpur and Nasima Begum, 21, daughter of Abdus Sattar of Mirzapur village of the upazila.
The injured were shifted to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital in the afternoon.
Police said the accident took place on Birampur-Nawabganj road in the Shitakot area when a motorcycle carrying three people collided with a passenger bus, leaving one person dead on the spot and two motorcycle riders injured.
