Lalmonirhat docs protest assault on colleague

3-hr strike at Sadar Hospital

Doctors at Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital yesterday observed a three-hour strike from 10:00am protesting assault on one of their colleagues by the relatives of a patient.
Following the incident at the emergency department at around 9:00am, doctors of the hospital went on a wildcat strike demanding arrest of the persons responsible for beating up of their colleague Dr Abdul Quader Ghoni.
They, however, resumed their duties at around 1:00pm after Civil Surgeon
Jahangir Alam Sarker assured them of taking necessary steps against the persons involved.
Hospital sources said one Rokan Uddin, 28, brought his six-year-old son, who was suffering from fever, to the emergency department at around 9:00am.
Dr Ghoni examined the boy and told his father Rokan that his son was suffering from viral fever, sources said, adding that as the doctor advised Rokan to take his son to a child specialist at the out-patient department of the hospital, he and one of his relatives named Raja Mia became furious and swooped on him.
Refuting the allegation of assaulting the doctor, Rokan said he had an altercation with Dr Ghoni, the on-duty doctor of the emergency department, as he (Ghoni) asked him to go to a child specialist without examining his son.
Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of the hospital Dr Goutam Chakraborty said they will go for a tougher agitation programme if the persons involved in the incident are not brought to book by tomorrow (Monday).

তবে সত্যি যদি ৩৫ বছরের বেশি সময় ধরে শাসন করে আসা এই নেতার পতন হয়। তাহলে ইরানে কী হবে তা এখনো অনিশ্চিত।
