Run up to Eid

Eid-Ul- Fitr will be brighter for over 200 ultra poor people in Bhatibari village of Lalmonirhat sadar upazila. Dedicated theatre activists of Amra K'jon Nattyo Goshthi distributed half kg of vermicelli and half kg of sugar to impoverished families in the village on Friday. The theatre activists of Amra K'jon Nattyo Goshthi pitched in to raise the required funds.
Monowara Bewa, 65, a widow who lives in Bhatibari village said,” I live from hand to mouth. I have no money to buy vermicelli and sugar from the market to celebrate Eid. This Eid will be better, thanks to the theatre activists.”
Yasmina Bewa, 55, another widow from same village said that she has been getting food supplies from the theatre activists of Amra K'jon Natto Gosty at Vatibari village for the last five years.
The president of Amra K'jon Natto Gosty Altaf Hossain said that the organisation has 100 members. Each of the members raise fund for purchasing clothes, vermicelli and sugar to distribute among the ultra poor people on the occasion of Eid every year.
“We not only stage plays but also lend our hands to kindle hope among the people,” he said.
Amra K'jon Nattyo Goshti was formed at Bhatibari village in 2005. The workers of this group stage plays and arrange cultural programmes in the theatre office round the year.
