Media is the real culprit
Ashraf's great revelation (August 24, 2011)
The commentary is praise worthy and to the point. We all know the media is doing a wonderful job by pinpointing the loopholes in the administration when they remain ever scary of the censorship by the present undemocratic government.
Elihan
Though Ashraf's statement is ridiculous, it is understandable. BNP as an opposition is a total failure and it does not have the moral authority to criticize the failures of the govt. It is only the media that is talking credibly against the corruption and incompetence of the government. Therefore, the Awami League is targeting the media with all the tirades.
Shahid
To divert peoples' attention from the failure of different sectors under this government now he is making this story. For the economic development of the country you must need cooperation from opposition. But in reality the government is always busy to harass opposition. Remember they led the country before. Please value democracy in Bangladesh.

Ashraf, we love our PM, who was elected by our vote. If you have any clear evidence about any particular media person trying to assassinate our PM, please expose that person to people. Instead of trying to address the issue in a proper way, unfounded blaming the messenger will not bring about any thing positive. Finally please don't consider the nation is full of fools.
Dr Islam
We have freedom of media, so we have to let that happen. However, we also have media review tribunal to protect us from yellow journalism. Ashraf was pointing to them, not to those who are publishing true stories of road condition, law and order situation, market price etc. It's more about that imaginary report of transit and Indo-Bangla border agreement.
Sohel Hasan Toongabbie
To hide their personal incompetence and to make the PM happy by saying that they are seriously concerned about the security of her, some ministers claim and blame that media is responsible for being partial in terms of publishing fair report. Our ministers, as you rightly pointed out, are to know how they would provide security of common people if the life of PM is under so serious threat.
Zashim
We are supposed to take lessons from history and correct our past mistakes. When national leaders start wholesomely blaming the national media there must be something wrong with the party in position or their governance of the country. Awami League think tank must stop the unruly ministers and other leaders from making irresponsible comments on national, international or political issues.
Dr Reza Khan
We would expect that Ashraf would specifically point out which media when and how they have created the ground to assassin the PM. Is that out of grudge against all the print and electronic media who have been vocal and trying to correct the govt. for their absolute failure in many affairs related to public interest! If the govt. is sure about the 'ground', please take action as per law, as you are the govt. with absolute power and not ordinary middle class lower middle class people like us who are always under tension about coming back home safely everyday, every night.

This is not a new issue in our country. Every party who is in power cannot tolerate the media. It does not matter whether it is BNP or AL. They praise the media when are in opposition but bash the same media when in power. Actually they cannot understand the value of democracy. They like to run our country in Gaddafi style. Our politician need to grow up as they think media is the enemy of country. We need Anna Hazare style revolution so that they can understand what is democracy.

More criticism of the government increase acceptability of the government and that part is not known to Mr Ashraf. From PM to downwards everybody still can't tolerate any satire or cartoon and they only want honey-honey and goody-goody sycophancy. Theatre and Dramas satirising the government and democratic institutions are still not welcomed in this government. Very cunningly these consciousnesses had been discouraged directly and indirectly.
