<i>Eight wild creatures freed in the wild</i>
Bonyaprani Seba Foundation, an organisation working for protection and preservation of wildlife, freed eight different species of wildlife to Lawachhara Reserve Forest on the occasion of Janmashtami, the birthday of Hindu Lord Shree Krishna on Monday.
The freed animals include one each of fishing cat, slow loris, brown colour monkey, squirrel, hornbill and tortoise, and two wild cats, said a press release issued by Bonya Prani Seba Foundation.
Local lawmaker MA Shahid, also chief whip of parliament, freed these creatures to Lawachhara Reserve Forest in Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar and planted 10 saplings of fruit bearing trees in presence of forest officials.
Besides, 500 crabs and one kg kuchiya (an eel-type fish) have been freed to the forest canals as food of the forest creatures.
Sitesh Chandra Deb, chairman of The Bonya Prani Seba Foundation at Srimongal, said the fishing cat was recovered from Hazipur village in Srimongal upazila on July 31 last and the slow loris was given to him by Nirod Kar of Isabpur village in the same upazila recently. Other animals were collected from different areas of Moulvibazar district.
