Woman beaten to death

An elderly woman was beaten to death at Fariapara of Mithapukur upazila on Thursday night.
The deceased is Mahfuza Begum, 50, of the same village.
Police said the incident took place when she came to rescue her son Masud while one Joynal Abedeen and his family members were beating Masud on allegation of stealing fishing net.
Masud alleged that they poured poison into her mouth to cover the murder up as suicide.
