Betel leaf vendor shot

Unknown criminals shot a betel leaf vendor in the city's Gulshan yesterday morning.
Abdul Hai, 30, son of Hajrat Ali of Kochukhet, Cantonment was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) with bullet wounds, police said.
Police and the victim couldn't ascertain the cause behind the incident.
Abdul Hai at DMCH told the reporters, two youths came to his small shop in front of Hotel Sea Queen at Kakoli around 7:00 am and asked him whereabouts about Suruj and Sabuj, two employees of the shop.
At one stage they locked into a row with him and one of the youths opened fire on him and fled the scene, he said.
When Sabuj went to DMCH, police arrested him as he was acting suspiciously, said Mozammel Haque, SI of DMCH police outpost.
