Foggy weather disrupts ferry
The capital witnessed light foggy weather throughout the day with a partly cloudy sky yesterday due to a low prevailing in the west.
The Met office said the situation may remain the same in the coming one or two days. It also said there is a possibility of drizzles in Rajshahi and Sylhet divisions and in the regions of Tangail and Mymensingh today.
Met office sources said due to the influence of the low, the sky over Bangladesh is overcast and foggy.
The sources said temperature would remain a bit higher at night during the next one or two days and it would fall after the low is gone.
The weather is likely to remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky across the country until 6:00pm today.
UNB adds: Ferry service on Daulatdia-Paturia route was disrupted for two hours yesterday morning due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.
Sources said ferry and launch movement came to a complete halt at 7:00am and resumed operations at 9:00am.
The weather coupled with two ferries going out of order left queues of about 1,000 vehicles on both sides of the river. A three-km-long queue of trucks was seen on the Daulatdia-Khulna highway.
Bidyut Kumar Saha, a Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) official at Daulatdia, told UNB that around 400 trucks were stranded at the terminal while over 400 goods-laden trucks and passenger buses were stranded on the highway.
