Academy close in on win
The GP-BCB National Cricket Academy (NCA) moved into a strong position in the first of two four-day matches against their South African counterparts in Tuks, Pretoria yesterday.
They reached 71 for no loss and require a further 150 runs on the final day today for victory.
Openers Tasamul Haque and Myshekur Rahman negotiated the new ball threat after Shohag Gazi's 4 for 54 helped them skittle out the Cricket South Africa Academy (CSA) for just 171 in their second innings, setting up a chase of 221.
Earlier, Mominul Haque Sourav scored 140 in the first innings and was ably supported by a half-century from Sanjamul Islam to take the score to 285 for 9 in reply to CSA's first innings of 334.
If they win today, it will be a much-needed taste of success for the Academy team who earlier lost the three-match one-day series 2-1.
