Papia, 2 lawyers shown arrested

BNP lawmaker Syeda Asifa Ashrafi Papia and two other pro-BNP lawyers were shown arrested yesterday in a case filed for vandalising a vehicle in the city's Dhanmondi on June 4.
The two other lawyers are Abu Bakar Siddique and Gazi Towhidul Islam.
The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka granted the petition by Mohammad Mokbul Hossain, sub-inspector of Dhanmondi Police Station seeking to show them arrested in the case.
SI Mokbul also investigation officer (IO) of the case prayed for a ten-day remand, the hearing of which will be held today in their presence.
Meanwhile, the hearing on a ten-day remand prayer in a case filed for assaulting the police and preventing them from carrying out their duties on the Supreme Court premises on August 2 will also be held today.
