Book of poetry launched in Magura
“Rudra Biplab and Hybrid Parba”, a book of poetry, was launched in Magura on August 5. The highlights of the programme were a discussion on the book and a cultural programme that included recitation of selected verses from the book.
The book contains 48 poems by Mia Wahid Kamal Bablu. Lekhok Jote, a Magura-based organisation of authors, hosted the event at the auditorium of Sayed Ator Ali Public Library in Magura town. Book lovers and poets of four upazilas in Magura district were present at the programme.
At the opening session, several poems from the newly published book were recited by local elocutionists.
In the course of the discussion, the discussants said that in his newly published book, Mia Wahid Kamal Bablu portrayed in simple verses, issues of everyday concern. The frustration of the masses has also been aptly depicted in the poems, said the speakers.
The chief guest at the discussion was eminent educationist of Magura, Professor Habibul Hasan. K Hossain, Professor Krishna Pada Roy, Advocate Ali Kadar and poet Sagar Zaman were the other speakers. Shamim Ahmed Khan presided over the discussion.
The speakers urged youngsters to develop the habits of reading and writing poetry.
Towards the end of the programme, a cultural performance was held at the venue.
