One lynched by mob

Locals beat a youth to death as he tried to lift a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Bishnupur area under Anwara upazila Sunday night.
Police identified the deceased as Jibon, 30.
Officer-in-charge Mohammad Sahajahan of Anwara Police Station said a group of hijackers including a woman hired an auto-rickshaw pretending as passengers around 11:00pm from southern side of Shah Amanat Bridge for Sattar Ghat, Anwara.
As the vehicle reached Bishnupur, the hijackers assaulted the driver Anwar to lift the auto-rickshaw, said the OC. Hearing shouting of Anwar, locals reached the scene and beat up the hijackers, the OC added.
On information, police rescued three hijackers and rushed Jibon to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Two other hijackers -- Rozina, 22, Iran, 20 -- and the auto-rickshaw driver were admitted to Anwara Upazila Health Complex.
