Abdus Salam Pintu held again
Criminal Investigation Department (CID) last night arrested former deputy education minister Abdus Salam Pintu at his wife's residence in Motijheel.
Pintu's brother Sultan Salauddin Tuku told The Daily Star that Pintu went out around 11:30pm after someone called him out.
When The Daily Star tried to contact Pintu over telephone, Pintu's wife Bilkis Begum Baby picked up but declined to confirm his arrest.
Bilkis was the headmistress of Motijheel Government Boys' High School and was transferred to Dhanmondi Government Kamrunnessa Girls' High School around 15 days ago. She still stays at her Motijheel Government Boys' High School residence.
Sources said a CID team led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Fazlul Kabir arrested Pintu in connection with his alleged involvement in the August 21, 2004 grenade attack on an Awami League rally.
On January 3 this year, joint forces picked him up at Gulshan in the capital but released him on January 5.
