Cahill to play qualifiers
Everton midfielder Tim Cahill says he will return to Australia for next month's opening World Cup qualifier against Qatar if wanted by new national team coach Pim Verbeek.
Cahill is among a group of European-based Socceroos Verbeek is considering summoning to Australia for the important February 6 match in Melbourne.
The Dutchman is assessing his available talent from the domestic A-League before naming his squad on Wednesday next week.
But Cahill on Thursday joined other overseas players, including Italian-based duo Vince Grella and Mark Bresciano, to commit to the game if required.
"I'm available for Australia any time," Cahill told local radio on Thursday.
"I fought so hard in court cases and things to play for Australia," he added, referring to his legal battle with governing body FIFA for eligibility with the Socceroos after representing Samoa at under-20 level.
"I'm not all of a sudden going to turn around and say I don't want to play for Australia."
