Charges framed against 11 for journo Manik Saha murder
A Khulna Court yesterday framed charges against eleven accused in Manik Saha murder case.
The accused are Sumon alias Nuruzzaman, Akhter Hossain alias Bomaru Akram, Ali Akber Shaon, Bulbul alias Bulu, Sattar Alias Disco Sattar, Saka alias Sakhawat Hossain, Omar Faruque, Mithul, Bellal, Sarwar alias Saro and Hai Islam alias Kachi. All of them are members of Janajuddho faction of outlawed Purbo Bangla Communist Party (PBCP).
Five of the accused were produced before the Khulna Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal while the others Remain on the run.
Judge Abdus Salam Shikder fixed January 22 for recording the statement of the prosecution witnesses.
Manik Saha, Khulna correspondent of New Age and also a stringer of BBC Bangla Service, was killed in a bomb attack near Khulna Press Club on January 15, 2004.
