Syria security forces kill 11 at protests
Eleven civilians were killed yesterday when Syrian security forces and regime agents used violence to disperse anti-regime protesters, human rights activists said.
"A number demonstrator was stabbed to death in front of the Amneh mosque in Aleppo by pro-regime militiamen who entered the compound and attacked" the faithful, said Abdel Karim Rihawi of the Syrian League for Human Rights.
He said that dozens more were wounded or arrested.
In the central city of Homs, "one protester was shot dead by security forces who dispersed a demonstration in the Al-Khalidiyeh district," he added.
The activists said security forces also fired on protesters at Idlib in the northwest, wounding several people.
