Missing govt staff yet to be rescued
The missing assistant inspector of Department of Explosives, Chittagong who slipped and fell into the Bay while boarding a scrap ship on Wednesday morning is still to be found till filing of this report yesterday afternoon.
Rescue teams of Bangladesh Navy, Coast Guard, Chittagong Port Authority and local agent of the ship MT Mar Princess continue their search at Bravo Anchorage at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port.
AHM Nuruzzaman, 38, was on a pre-scrapping inspection with a team of Chittagong Customs and the department, said Chittagong Port Radio Control.
Nuruzzaman did not know how to swim, said Mohammad Rashed, manager (shipping and administration) of JAR Shipping Lines, the vessel's local agent, quoting Nuruzzaman's relatives.
Nuruzzaman's relatives and the department Chief Inspector Khairul Bashar arrived at the scene yesterday morning.
The department Inspector Shankar Proshad Pal said they would form a committee to find what actually happened.
