Jobs of 200 female traffic cops on cards
Dhaka Metropolitan Police will constitute an all-female division and appoint 200 female traffic sergeants soon to increase women's participation in the police force.
DMP Commissioner Benazir Ahmed yesterday said this at a seminar at Mirpur University College auditorium in the city yesterday.
Titled "Amra Nari, Police Hote Pari", it was organised jointly by Mirpur Police Station and Shishuder Jonyo, a non-government organisation.
In July 2003, DMP had posted 40 women traffic police, but all of them were withdrawn within three days of deployment due to lack of infrastructures, including absence of restrooms and sheds near the places they were stationed in.
