Ex-BNP whip Zahed Chy acquitted

A Sherpur court has acquitted former lawmaker and BNP whip Zahed Ali Chowdhury and nine other activists of BNP and JCD in an extortion case.
Assistant Sessions Judge Badrul Islam delivered the verdict in a jam-packed courtroom on Monday after examining seven witnesses of the case.
Ward Commissioner Mohammad Helal Uddin filed the case with Nokla Police Station on April 22, 2007 against former lawmaker from Sherpur-2 constituency Zahed and nine other activists of BNP and JCD on charges of extortion.
