Lawmaker's private secretary shot dead

Awami League lawmaker Captain (retd) Giasuddin Ahmed's private secretary was shot dead by criminals at Mandira in Gafargaon upazila Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Mofazzal Hossain Sarwar, 29.
Witnesses said, when Mofazzal was returning to his village Kalipara along with two of his associates in a motorbike, a gang waylaid them at Mandira at about 10:30pm and sprayed bullets on Mofazzal.
When Mofazzal was taken to Gafargaon upazila health complex the attending doctors declared him dead.
In two other incidents, a farmer was gunned down in Jhenidah Sadar upazila and a sex worker was killed allegedly by her lover at Daulatdia brothel in Goalanda in Rajbari yesterday.
In Jhenidah, assailants shot dead farmer Asadul, 32, son of Abed Mandal at Ghorshal Taltolapara village in Sadar upazila in the morning.
Police and villagers said, a gang of 3/4 unidentified armed criminals shot dead Asadul when he was working at his cropland near his house at 10.00am.
Police suspect Asadul might have been killed over rivalry in the ensuing union parishad (UP) elections.
In Rajbari, sex worker Sonali Aktar Swarnali, 25, was killed allegedly by her lover Mintu Fakir at her residence at Daulatdia brothel in Goalanda early yesterday.
Police and locals said, Swarnali was tenant of Dipak Saha. Dipak`s employee Salma Aktar went to Swarnali`s room to collect house rent and found her hanging from the ceiling in the morning.
Being informed, Daulatdia Ghat area police rushed in and recovered the body. Police also arrested Mintu Fakir from the area. Locals said, Mintu was Swarnali`s lover and often stayed with her at night.
