Moulvibazar BNP leader sent to jail in extortion case

Ayas Ahmed, general secretary of Moulvibazar Sadar upazila BNP, was has sent to jail yesterday in an extortion case.
He was sent to jail when he surrendered before court here.
Local Jubo Dal leader Ashraf Ahmed, also a member of Nazirabad Union Parishad in Sadar upazila, filed the case against Ayas Ahmed and Sadar upazila BNP president Faruk Ahmed on April 6 last year. Faruk Ahmed is absconding, police said.
Earlier, the court issued arrest warrants against them and ordered attachment of their moveable property.
