'Human rights being violated constantly'

Speakers at a roundtable on Monday said human rights are being violated repeatedly in the country, referring to the recent activities of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab).
The discussion was organised by Relief International with assistance from National Network for Concerned Journalists (NNCJ) at Keraniganj Upazila Parishad auditorium.
Abdur Rashid, officer-in-charge (OC) of Keraniganj Model Police Station, said the state holds the responsibility to defend human rights, but police can do this job more successfully in cooperation of public support and assistance.
Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) secretary general Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan attended the roundtable as the chief guest.
Keraniganj UNO Shahina Khatun, AC Land and Magistrate Fauzia Khan, NNCJ member secretary Promatha Ranjan Biswas, Keraniganj press club president Salauddin Mia also spoke.
