UNO sued in Thakurgaon

The Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Pirganj in Thakurgaon district has been sued for allegedly assaulting and humiliating a fertiliser trader, court sources said.
Fertiliser trader Md Delwar Hossain of Radhikapur village filed the case against Pirganj UNO Md Hiruzzaman on Sunday. He said the UNO tortured him near a bazaar in Pirganj in broad daylight on December 26. At that time, he was talking with other farmers over fertilizer issue.
Md Ashequr Rahman, chief judicial magistrate of Thakurgaon formed an inquiry committee headed by Md Rabiul Islam. The magistrate asked him to submit a report by February 19, court sources said.
While contacted, Pirganj UNO Md Hiruzzaman said he is not aware about the incident.
