HC asks authorities to explain

The High Court (HC) yesterday issued a rule upon the authorities concerned to explain why the lease of Shakurail Bazar in Haluaghat Upazila of Mymenshingh for one year (Bangla year 1418) will not be cancelled.
A vocational bench of HC comprising justice Syed Mohammad Ziaul Karim and Justice ANM Basir Ullah issued the rule following a writ petition filed by present bid winner Anwar Hossain.
The bench directed the local government secretary, deputy commissioner (DC) of Mymensingh, DC (land), Haluaghat Upazila Chairman and new lessee Zobaet Hossain Khan Badal to respond to the rule within two weeks.
Eminent Jurist TH Khan participated in the argument during hearing on behalf of the petitioner.
TH Khan's assistant Ahsan Habib told reporters that the present bid winner Anwar Hossain offered highest amount in last two times tenders to get the lease but it was given to Badal who submitted the bid Tk 4 lakh less than Anwar's amount.
