One gets life for killing wife

A special court here on Thursday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his wife.
The court also fined the convict, Shahid Mia of Jhalkanda village in Araihajar, Tk 10,000. If he fails to pay, he would have to serve one more year in jail.
According to the prosecution, Shahid beat his wife Saonara Begum to death on October 5, 2003 and dumped the body beside a road.
Later, police recovered the body.
The victim's elder brother Akbar Ali filed a murder case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with the police.
After examining the witnesses and records, Tribunal Judge Zakir Hossain pronounced the verdict in the packed courtroom.
