Road crashes kill 8, injure 29
Eight people were killed and 29 others injured in road accidents in Chapainawabganj, Narail, Khagrachhari, Dinajpur, Joypurhat and Gaibandha on Wednesday and yesterday.
Our correspondent from Chapainawabganj reports: Three people, including a doctor, were killed and four others were injured in three road accidents in the district yesterday.
The deceased are Dr Rashedul Islam, 29 of Talaimari Moholla of Rajshahi, a medical officer of Gomostapur Upazila Health Complex, Hazrat Ali, 40, of Durgapur village and Kamrul Islam, 30, of Sobdelpur village of Nachole upazila.
Police said the first one took place at Ghughudima when a bus hit a mishuk leaving Dr Rashed dead on the spot and injured critically Dr Atikur Rahman. He was rushed to Sadar Hospital.
The second accident occurred when a human hauler ran over Hazrat Ali at Kasiabari Bazar.
Yet another accident, Kamrul Islam died when a Bhutbhuti (human hauler) overturned at Sonaichandi Madrasa intersection. Three others were injured in the accident.
Our correspondent from Narail adds: Two timber traders, Rahman, 48, and Azizur Rahman, 40, were killed as a bus hit their motorcycle on Kalia-Narail road at Sorkoldanga Madrasa intersection of Sadar upazila yesterday.
Our correspondent from Khagrachhari says: Uzzal Kanti Tripura, 45, was killed when a tractor hit him in Shapla Chattar area on Wednesday.
Our correspondent from Dinajpur reports: At least 22 people were injured in a road accident as a bus fell into a roadside ditch in Parbatipur upazila yesterday. They were admitted to Dinajpur Medical College and Phulbari Upazila Health Complex.
In another accident Shahidul Islam Babu, 30, was killed when a bus crashed him at Pachbibi upazila of Joypurhat yesterday.
Our correspondent from Gaibandha adds: Bicycle rider, Ohidul Islam, 35, was killed and three other pedestrians were injured when a truck hit them on Gaibandha-Sadullapur road at Tarfbajit yesterday.
