Commerce minister off to Bangkok to join BIMSTEC seminar
Commerce Minister Faruk left Dhaka yesterday for Bangkok to attend a seminar of the Sixth Business Forum under the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multisectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).
Faruk is one of the keynote speakers of the seminar, which will be held today. His topic is BIMSTEC Economic Cooperation against the Backdrop of Global Financial Crisis.
Thailand Deputy Minister of Commerce Alongkorn Ponlaboot and Indian State Minister for Road Transport and Highway Affairs Ranjeet PN Singh are the two other keynote speakers.
Seven countries are participating in the seminar. Apart from Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bhutan, Nepal will attend the seminar.
