Nine JCD activists held in Kushtia
Police arrested eight Jatiyatabatadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists as they besieged Kushtia Sadar police station Tuesday night to protest arrest of a fellow activist.
Police said they raided the district party office of BNP on Nawbab Seraj-Ud-Daula Road in the town at about 7:30pm and arrested one Mahfuz with leaflets having derogatory remarks against foreign minister Dipu Moni.
The posters accused the FM of her inaction following the recent brutal killing of Bangladeshi girl Felani by Indian Border Security Force (BSF).
After the arrest, hundreds of activists of JCD district unit brought out a procession and besieged Kushtia Sadar police station at about 8:30pm.
Police chased the party activists and arrested eight of them from in front of the police station.
They are Sadekul Islam, Year Ali, Sujon, Jahangir Alam, Sharier Faisal, Robiul Islam, Liakat Ali and Mehedi Hasan Mithu.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kushtia Sadar police station Asaduzzaman said police arrested the JCD men for distributing the leaflets and disrupting the activities of the police station.
A case was filed against the JCD activists in this connection.
