$3.40m for Dhaka climate fund soon

Swiss Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Urs Harren met with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office yesterday and discussed bilateral issues of mutual interest.
On climate change, the ambassador informed Hasina that Switzerland is immediately providing 3.40 million Swiss Francs (approximately 3.40 million US Dollar) by 2012 to the Bangladesh Climate Change Resilience Fund (BCCRF).
He said Switzerland looks forward to deepen its dialogue in this field with Bangladesh, an important player in global climate change discussion, says a press release of the Swiss embassy here.
The prime minister expressed her gratitude for the Swiss contributions in various sectors of Bangladesh and praised the excellent and longstanding relations between the two countries.
The ambassador reaffirmed the commitment of Switzerland for wider cooperation with Bangladesh in the political, economical, social and cultural fields.
Hasina urged Swiss investors to invest more in Bangladesh. The envoy said Bangladesh
is attracting a growing attention from Swiss companies and investors.
Harren, however, underlined the importance of a sound business climate to attract future investments.
