Muhith must resign for stock crash

Reiterates Moudud

Senior BNP leader Moudud Ahmed yesterday reiterated his demand for resignation of Finance Minister AMA Muhith and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) officials concerned over the sharemarket crash.
Moudud, member of the BNP standing committee, was speaking at a discussion organised by Jatiyatabadi Matsyajibi Dal at the Jatiya Press Club to mark the 75th birth anniversary of the party's founder Ziaur Rahman.
He made the same demand on Saturday in another discussion, and said the finance minister, the SEC and stock exchange officials cannot avoid the responsibility for the slump in the sharemarket.
The BNP leader also demanded proper probe into the market crash and punish the people involved in market manipulation.
Another party leader Abdullah Al Noman said the outcome of the municipal polls reflected people's rejection of the present government.
BNP leaders Altaf Hossain Chowdhury and Abdus Salam, among others, spoke at the discussion presided over by Jatiyatabadi Matsyajibi Dal President Rafiqul Islam Mahtab.
