Hearing the noise, locals rushed to the spot and saw a box lying there.
“Being informed, we went to the spot after the evening and recovered the box unbroken. All the devices were active then. The box with electronic goods has writings in English and Hindi. It is the asset of the Indian Space Research Centre in Kolkata,” said Shailkupa police station Officer in Charge Anwar Hossain.
Witness Mohabbat Ali of village Charpara said he along with others rushed to the spot after hearing a bang in the evening.
“We saw something wrapped in scotch tapes and it was making some machinery sounds. At first we were panicked. Later police assured us that it was not at all harmful,” he said.
When contacted, Assistant Superintendent of Police Faisal Ahmed said, “We talked to higher authorities about returning the kit. The instruments were sent to conduct research in the space of India but mistakenly it entered Bangladesh territory. We have been asked to wait till the Indian government takes necessary steps to get the instruments back at a convenient time.”
