President for changing traffic rules

President Zillur Rahman has emphasised taking necessary initiatives to change the exiting traffic rules to ensure safe road in the country.
The president stated this when IGP Hasan Mahmud Khandoker paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban yesterday.
“In order to ensure safe road, it's essential to bring about changes in the existing traffic rules,” he said, adding that he would support to any changes that will ensure people's welfare and development.
Zillur expressed his satisfaction over the performance of police as the country's law and order situation is improving. He said the incidents of hijack during the observance of Eid-ul-Ajha and Durga Puja was less, he said.
The president mentioned that Bangladesh secured the top position in sending troops to the UN Peacekeeping Mission and put emphasis on keeping the trend with experience and competence of Bangladeshi troops including police.
The IGP apprised the president that police is sincerely working to further improve the law and order situation. He also apprised the president of various activities of police including upcoming police week.
“Police is successfully working to curb extremists, militants and terrorists in the country,” he said.
The IGP sought the president's cooperation in discharging their professional activities.
Secretary to the President's office M Shafiul Alam and Military Secretary to the President Major General Abul Kalam M Humayun Kabir were present.
