A five-day photography exhibition to generate awareness against child trafficking kicked off in Pabna. The exhibition opened at the Pabna Town Hall premises last Sunday. Ajker Projonmo Forum, a young photographers' organisation was the driving force behind the exhibition. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pabna, Mohammad Sajedur Rahman inaugurated the event.
A workshop, titled 'The Use of Photography and Possibility', was part of the opening programme. Speakers at the workshop stressed the need to generate creativity and professionalism in photography.
Mohammad Bashir Ahmed Sujon, a prominent photographer of MAP Photo agency trained the young photographers on various aspects of the medium. Among others, Mohammad Khaled Hossain Parag, team leader of Ajker Projonmo Forum and Mohammad Abdul Mannan, secretary of the forum, spoke on the occasion.
Photography is an art, said the speakers. The aesthetic aspect of photography must be nurtured. A professional photographer takes a snap that touches various facets of a subject and a perfect photograph presents the inner meaning of the subject without words, added the speakers.
Forty-five photographs are on display at the exhibition. All the photographs reveal the horrific dimensions of child trafficking and how children are trafficked around the world.
“The photographs feature the inhuman torture of the children. Exhibited photos evoke the need for immediate intervention,” Khaled Hossain Porag, the organiser of the Ajker Projonmo Forum, told The Daily Star.
A US-based freelance photographer Shehzad took the photographs on child trafficking in different parts of Bangladesh.
