Confidence falling in Nepal
USAID, the European Union and other foreign donors yesterday expressed concern over the slow pace of Nepal's peace process, saying a political deadlock was draining confidence.
Nepal has been without a government since June, when the prime minister stood down under pressure from the main opposition Maoist party, and 16 attempts to elect a successor have failed.
"The donor community remains committed to supporting Nepal through this challenging time," the donor group's statement said, adding that "continued vacancies in senior positions reduce donor confidence".
