BSF kills 1
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Bangladeshi cattle trader near Masudpur border point in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Kalu Mia, 30, son of Abdur Razzak of Thuthapara-Sahapara village of the upazila.
Lt Col Abu Bakar Abu, commanding officer of 39 Rifles Battalion, said BSF troops from Shubhopur camp in West Bengal fired on a group of Bangladeshi cattle traders while they were entering Indian territory near main pillar no.168 around 3:00 am.
Kalu died on the spot, he said.
After the incident local people took the body to Bangladesh territory.
On information, Shibganj police recovered the body from Kalu's house in the village and sent it to Adhunik Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Bangladesh Rifles strongly condemned the killing by sending a protest note to its Indian counter part.
