'Heart treatment at dist govt hospitals soon'

Patients with cardiovascular diseases will get primary treatment at all public district hospitals to reduce the referral hospital's pressure which increased tremendously, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haque yesterday.
Ruhal was speaking at the inaugural function of a two-day conference titled 'Cardiovascular Diseases' organised by National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh (NHFB) at a city hotel.
“The government will provide all sorts of support to the state owned district hospitals to launch the life support services for patients with cardiovascular diseases,” said Ruhal.
He pointed out some major problems towards obtaining cardiovascular treatment including inadequate number of cardiovascular experts, technology, equipment and establishments.
He called on private investors to build institutions that would produce more experts on cardiovascular diseases for the country as well as to launch services at district level.
NHFB Secretary General National Prof Brig (Rtd) Abdul Malik delivered the welcome address.
State Minister for health Mozibur Rahman Fakir also spoke at the function with the foundation President Justice Chowdhury ATM Masud in the chair. NHFB Joint Secretary Serajul Islam and Vice-President Prof RK Khandaker also addressed the function.
