Student jailed for stalking
A mobile court yesterday noon convicted a college student for stalking two school-going girls and sentenced him to six months imprisonment at Godanarayan in the district town.
The convict was identified as Shakil Hasan, 18, son of Kutub Uddin of Charkharchar area of Sadar upazila. Shakil is a 2nd year student of Sherpur Polytechnic College.
Police said Shakil was stalking two female students of Class IV and VII of Vimganj High School for the last one month.
On Friday evening villagers foiled Shakil's attempt to violate one of the two girls beside their house and handed him over to police, who produced him before a mobile court yesterday.
After examining witnesses and the victim, Executive Magistrate Rajib Sarkar instantly handed down punishment to the stalker at noon.
