11 PSI firms submit EoI to NBR
Eleven Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) companies submitted their Expression of Interest (EoI) to the National Board of Revenue (NBR) aiming to get contracts for the next two years.
Thursday was the last date to submit the EoI.
The companies submitting EoIs include Intertake Testing Services (ITS), SGS, Bureau Veritas (BIVAC), OMIC, Cotecna, Baltic Control, TUV Rheinland, Ravi Energie Inc and Engineering Bureau International.
NBR Sources said PSI companies would be appointed based on their experience, past record and reputation both in local and international perspective.
Four companies -- ITS, BIVAC, SGS and OMIC -- have been doing the jobs of PSI services in Bangladesh now under the five blocks of the global countries.
Cotecna was also appointed to do the PSI activities, but on March 19, 2008, NBR cancelled the certificate of M/S Cotecna Inspection SA for serious irregularities.
NBR said the certificate was cancelled under the Pre-Shipment Inspection Rules 2002, for violation of law and rules by the company.
Cotecna was assigned to give Clean Reports of Findings (CRF) for Block B (China, Thailand, Korea (North and South), the Philippines and Cambodia) and Block D (Japan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Venatu and Papua New Guinea).
