Dengue outbreak

Incidence of dengue fever is on the rise in the capital. This is a mosquito-borne endemic disease which has no specific treatment. Dengue is caused by any one of four dengue viruses spread by Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes. They thrive in and near human habitations where they breed in the cleanest water. The city dwellers have been getting infected by dengue for the last two or three months.
I live in the city's Mirpur area. During the last one month many residents of our area got the virus. Two of my family members are now suffering from it. Our doctor has said that most of his patients, who reported with high fever, have been diagnosed with dengue later, as the signs and symptoms usually appear between the third and seventh day of illness, after remission of the fever.
I wonder what the Dhaka City Corporation is doing in this regard. DCC has not carried out any preventive drive against dengue for the last two years. At least I did not see any action taken by them in my area for mosquito control.
The AL govt. is very busy with politics only, while those who voted them to power are suffering from severe gas, electricity and water crises, and now dengue has added salt to their injury. The DCC should not turn a blind eye to the matter.
