A youth was beaten to death by his rivals at Binodpur in the town on Monday evening. The victim was identified as Manik, 20, son of Chan Mia of the same village. Police and locals said there had been a long standing dispute between Farhad group and Hannan group over establishing supremacy at Binodpur village. People of Hannan picked up Manik of Farhad group from Bhajanchala and beat him up. Seriously injured Manik was rushed to Rajbari General Hospital and then shifted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where he died. As the death news of Manik spread in the area, people belonging to Farhad group became agitated and attacked Masud, 22, of Hannan group the same night, leaving him injured.
