House owner picked up
Police yesterday detained house owner and her nephew in connection with the housewife Sumi's murder that occurred at Khilgaon in the city on October 15.
The detainees are house owner Nadira Khandakar and her nephew Dip.
Sumi was murdered at her rented house at Banasree of Khilgaon area.
On the day of incident, police arrested Sumi's husband Mahfuzur Rahman Rana and domestic help Jesmin suspecting their involvement in the murder.
Khilgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Najimuddin, quoting detained Jesmin, said Dip was involved in an extra-marital relation with Sumi and, fearing leakage of the affair, Dip and other accused had killed Sumi.
Sumi was partially mentally challenged, the OC added.
Though at a primary interrogation, Jesmin told the police that a group of three youths, identifying themselves as cable mechanics, entered Sumi's house and killed her.
The OC said the detainees forced Jesmin to give fabricated statements earlier.
Sumi's brother Md Mosharraf filed a murder case with the Khilgaon Police Station following the incident.
