BNP demands neutral probe

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday in a condolence message said a 'reckless train' ran through hundreds of leaders and activists of BNP in Sirajganj killed five leaders and activists on the spot.
She also demanded a neutral enquiry into the train accident to find out the facts behind the incident that claimed lives of five supporters of her party.
The central committee of pro-BNP student front Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal arranged the rally at Sayedabad Rail Gate ground under the Sadar upazila in the district marking the Shahid Jehad Day.
Khaleda Zia claimed that more than 100 leaders and workers were injured in the incident.
She demanded authorities concerned take proper steps for the treatment of the injured persons.
In the message, Khaleda expressed shock at the death of five party men, sympathised with to the bereaved families and prayed to the almighty for the peace of the departed souls.
BNP Secretary General Khandker Delwar Hossain, in a separate message, also condoled the deaths. He demanded unearthing the mystery behind the deaths and arrest and exemplary punishment to the persons responsible.
The opposition BNP will arrange a 'gayebana janaza' in front of its central office in the capital after Johr prayers today.
Delwar and other central leaders of the party will join the janaza, says a press release.
After the janaza, Delwar will announce the next programme of the party.
