Abducted schoolboy rescued, one arrested

A schoolboy, abducted on October 6 in Birganj upazila of Dinajpur district, was rescued yesterday.
Police also arrested an abductor named Md Tofazzal Hossain, 25, son of Hasan Ali of Dabra village in the upazila.
Piyas Chandra Roy, 12, a class five student of Zineswari Government Primary School in the upazila, was abducted by a gang of three from the school premises for ransom.
Later, the abductors phoned Piyas' father Khitish Chandra Roy of Dabra village demanding
Tk.10 lakh as ransom for his release. Khitish Chandra filed an abduction case was with Birganj Police Station the same day.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team yesterday raided Uttar Sujalpur village in Birganj upazila and rescued Piash from battery-run three-wheeler which was hired by the gang to carry Piash to an unknown place.
Police arrested Tofazzal on the spot while the rest two fled the scene, sensing the presence of the law enforcers, police said.
Police sent Piyas to Dinajpur Judicial Magistrate's Court. The court recorded his statement and then handed him over to his parents.
