Biswa Sahitya Kendro’s (BSK) Manikganj unit observes fourth anniversary

Biswa Sahitya Kendro's (BSK) Manikganj unit observed its fourth anniversary in Manikganj on Saturday. The day's programme included a colourful rally, discussion, dance, play, poetry recitation, song rendition and local gastronomic delights to guests. BSK's founder Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed was present at the function as chief guest while Defence Secretary Khandaker Mohammad Asaduzzaman was present as special guest.
Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed asserted said that books are the best route to enlightenment. They also make for better souls, countries and the world. He called on the public to set up more libraries in the country.
Deputy Commissioner Munshi Shahabuddin Ahmed, Police Superintendent Muhammad Masud Karim, Manikganj Bar Association Secretary advocate Jamilur Rashid Khan, Professor Abu Azha Ahmed Asaduzzaman, freedom fighters Mofizul Islam Khan Kamal, Iqbal Hosaain Khan, Azahar Uddin Arzu, Abdul Alim Khan, journalist Saifuddin Ahmed Nannu, BSK's Manikganj District Unit Coordinator Abdullah Al Mohan and cultural activist Himel Khan addressed the gathering at the function, held at Manikganj Bar Association auditorium.
The programmes kickstarted with the unveiling of the cover of a souvenir and a colourful rally was brought out at noon. The guests were enticed with locally made food--- yoghurt, moa, naru, jhalmuri and more. Dancing, acting, poetry recitation and rendition of songs added to the festive mood.
Hundreds of enthusiastic people, including college students and teachers, joined the day's programmes.
