Army, air force replace contingents in Congo

Bangladesh is going to replace four Army contingents and one Air Force contingent at the United Nations Mission in Congo (MONUSCO).
A total of 1,968 army personnel of four contingents --31 BIR (BANBAT-9), 8 E BENGAL (BANBAT-10), BAN HEAD QUARTER SUPPORT AND SIGNAL COMPANY-6 and FORCE BAN MP-6 and 318 Air Force personnel of BANAIR-8 will be replaced by 13 flights by November 7.
Under this programme, in the first flight 115 army personnel, including officers of one Army contingent 31 BIR (BANBAT-9) led by Colonel Md Jasim Uddin and 65 Air Force personnel, including officers of one Air Force contingent BANAIR-8 led by Group Captain Robiul Islam Sikder left here for Congo by a UN chartered plane early hours yesterday.
A munajat was offered seeking more excellence of the contingents in future at the Shahjalal International Airport prior to their departure for Congo, said an ISPR release.
Army and Air Force achieved confidence of Congo government and general public by discharging their duties in mitigating conflict with efficiency, professionalism and sincerity, it says.
