Robber held after gunfight with Rab in Habiganj

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion arrested a robber who was injured by bullet in an encounter with them in Habiganj Sadar upazila early yesterday
Arrestee Mukhles Miah of Habiganj Sadar upazila is an accused in at least 19 cases, Rab said.
Police sub-inspector (SI) Hafiz Khan and Havilder Akhtar of Rab also sustained injuries in the encounter. A revolver, two ammunition and two billhooks were also recovered from the spot.
The injured robber was admitted into Habiganj Sadar Hospital while Rab men were released after giving first aid.
ASP Zakir Hossain, Assistant Director of Rab at Srimongal, said a contingent of Rab reached Lashkarpur on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at about 3:30 am yesterday as a gang of 10 robbers were taking preparation for committing robbery.
Sensing the presence of Rab men, the robbers opened fire at them while the elite force retaliated. After exchange of about 17 gunshots, Rab men caught bullet hit Mukhles.
