Road accidents kill four
Four persons were killed and one was injured in separate road accidents in Dinajpur and Thakurgaon on Saturday and yesterday.
Our correspondent from Dinajpur: A mother and her 5-year-old daughter were killed and another was injured in a road accident in Phulbari upazila of Dinajpur on yesterday noon.
The deceased were identified as Shamsun Nahar, 26, wife of Md Guljar Hossain and his daughter Fariya Begum, 5, of village Teghariya under Birampur upazila of the district.
Police quoting witnesses, said the accident took place when Guljar along with his wife and his daughter were coming to Phulbari Health Complex riding a motorcycle for his daughter's treatment. Their motorcycle collided head-on with a tree-loaded tractor on Dinajpur-Bogra highway at Bashudevpur village leaving the mother and her daughter dead on the spot.
Goljar Hossain, 32, was wounded critically and undergoing treatment at Phulbari Health Complex.
Our correspondent from Thakurgaon adds: A freedom fighter, who was injured in a road accident on Friday afternoon, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH).
The victim Harendranath Sen, 60, of Kharibari village under Sadar upazila of the district was cremated at his village crematorium with state honour on Saturday afternoon.
Family sources said the accident occurred when a motorcycle collided head-on with bicycle rider Harendranath on Thakurgaon-Patiadangi road at Kharibari around 5:30pm on Friday, leaving him seriously injured.
He was first taken to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital and later shifted to RMCH as his condition deteriorated fast.
UNB from Laxmipur adds: A trader was killed in a road accident on Laxmipur- Barisal highway at Mazu Chowdhuri Hat in Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Dulal Majhi, 40, a betel leaf trader, resident of Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal.
