Seven 'robbers' arrested, arms seized
Police arrested seven alleged robbers in Tangail and Noakhali yesterday.
Mirzapur police arrested three members of an intre-district robbers' gang with arms and ammunitions early yesterday,reports our Tangail Correspondent.
A team from Mirzapur police station challenged the gang in Mohera area when they were entering a village from highway.
They searched the gang members and recovered a loaded LG, a local-made gun with its 5 bullets, a mechete and materials for commuting robbery from their possessions.
The robbers were identified as Imran, 28, of Dohar in Dhaka, Selim, 30, of Bhurungamari of Kurigram, and Arshad, 25, of Nagarpur in Tangail.
Habibullah Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Mirzapur police station, told this correspondent that the arrestees are professional robbers. Two cases have been filed against them with the police station, he said.
In Noakhali, police arrested four alleged robbers along with a CNG-run autorickshaw and seven sharp weapons at Chowdhurir Haat in Musapur union in Companyganj upazila yesterday.
The arrestees were identified as autorickshaw driver Haq Sahib alias Masud, 27, Shahidul Alam Khan, 22, Abul Bashar, 25, and Rahmatullah alias Ripon, 18, reports UNB.
Police said, the gang came to Chowdhurir Haat area by an autorickshaw for committing robbery at 3am. Local people encircled them and beat them black and blue.
On information, Companyganj police rushed to the spot and arrested the four along with the autorickshaw. Police also recovered seven sharp weapons from the three-wheeler.
In Satkhira, police in a drive arrested a notorious robber at Soygharia on Satkhira-Jessore Road in Sadar upazila on Friday night.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive in the area at about 9 pm and arrested Habibur Rahman, 32, son of Akbar Dakat of Kuchpukur village of Sadar upazila.
Shahjahan Ali Khan, officer-in-charge of Sadar PS said, Habibur was wanted in seven cases including five for robbery.
Police said Habibur's father is also a notorious robber and wanted in a number of cases.
